Salvation is being rescued or saved from eternal separation from God. How do we do that, and why is that important? Let’s unpack that.

First, God is the Creator of all things. Colossians 1:16 says, “For in Him all things were created”. As the Creator of all things, He has all authority as the Owner of all things, including us. When He first created all things, they were good. God’s first people, Adam and Eve, were righteous and had a relationship with their Creator God.

God also gave the people that He had created free will and choice. They had all good things, but were commanded not to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. And eventually, they rebelled. Sin entered His creation, and His people were corrupted. They could no longer have a relationship with their perfect Creator God, and they were helpless to make themselves sinless again. There was now an immeasurable gap between us and our Creator God.

In Romans 6:23 it says, “For the wages of sin is death,” meaning any sin deserves death. We have all earned the death penalty. But God intervened. He saw our need for a Substitute, a Savior, and gave Himself, His own Son Jesus Christ to die in our place. In Romans 5:8, God tells us, “God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” He then rose from the dead, having paid the full penalty for our sins. God bridged the immeasurable gap between Himself and us through His Son Jesus.

He loved the world so much, that He gave His only Son, “that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life” – John 3:16. He freely offers this gift of eternal life and freedom from the death penalty for sin. Salvation is through Jesus alone. So how do we obtain this salvation?

A – B – C. Admit: First, you must Admit that you are a sinner. Romans 3:23 states, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Believe: We Believe that Jesus died and rose again, John 3:16. Call: Call on God for salvation. Romans 10:9-10 tells us, “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”
